Not by Bread Alone

"Not by Bread Alone"
Nalaga'at Deaf-Blind Theater
of Tel Aviv

Wednesday, March 19, 7:30 pm
Thursday, March 20, 7:30 pm
Saturday, March 22, 6:30 pm and 9 pm

Ohio Theatre at Playhouse Square
1511 Euclid Avenue, Cleveland

Presented by PlayhouseSquare

In Not By Bread Alone eleven deaf-blind actors take the audience on a magical tour of the districts of their inner world; the world of darkness, silence and…bread. As the process of bread making unfolds on stage – the dough is being kneaded, raised and baked “for real” – a unique encounter occurs between actors and audience.

The Nalaga’at Deaf-Blind Acting Ensemble was founded in order to integrate deaf-blind people into the community, promote their needs and aspirations and provide them with the opportunity to express themselves and exercise one of the most basic rights – to contribute to society. Their performances enhance public awareness of deaf-blind people as equal citizens and promote universal values of solidarity, mutual respect, tolerance and coexistence, while offering the greatest gift of all - the gift of art.

TRAITOR! Spies, Lies and Justice Denied: The Dreyfus Affair

TRAITOR!
Spies, Lies and Justice Denied: The Dreyfus Affair

Open through
February 9

Maltz Museum of Jewish Heritage
2929 Richmond Road
Beachwood

Presented by the Maltz Museum of Jewish Heritage

In 1894, a false charge of treason sanctioned by the government of France and promoted by the country’s anti-Semitic media sent a Jewish officer named Alfred Dreyfus to life imprisonment on Devil’s Island. The Dreyfus Affair is one of the most notorious cases of criminal injustice in history.

Original artifacts, photographs, drawings, newspapers, illustrations and film bring to life a fraudulent conviction engineered by the state that divided French society, sowed the seeds of future wars and inspired the birth of modern Zionism.
