Action Alert: Donate to Victims of 2017 Hurricanes
- Share This Story
Tragically this weekend another natural disaster hit the U.S.—impacting the entire state of Florida and now reaching into Georgia. The enormous storm caused widespread damage and flooding, and left more than 10 million people without power. Residents and communities are just now beginning to return to assess the damage. While we are still in the process of gathering information, immediate funds are needed for food, shelter, and other emergency supplies.
The Jewish Federation of Cleveland joins Federations across the country in raising funds for the victims of Hurricane Irma, as well as victims of all 2017 hurricanes.
Through Federations’ Hurricane Harvey Relief efforts, more than $10 million has been raised – which is one third of the estimated $30 million needed to rebuild. These funds, from federations, foundations and the Government of Israel, are already being put to work. These funds are helping to:
- Meet immediate urgent needs for displaced and affected families urgently needed temporary housing, food, and cleaning supplies.
- Establish safe places for children. Distraught families were able to send their children to a day camp so they can focus on recovery and rebuilding.
- Offer trauma support. Families can receive telephone-based counseling sessions and schedule in-person appointments with trauma and family-resilience specialists.
One hundred percent of your donation will go to help victims of 2017 hurricanes.
