Israeli Cabinet Minister and son of former Prime Minister Menachem Begin Speaking in Cleveland
CLEVELAND – (August 24, 2009) Ze’ev Binyamin (Benny) Begin*, Israeli Cabinet Minister, Likud Knesset Member and son of former Likud Prime Minister Menachem Begin, will be speaking about “Israel and the Middle East: An Update on Changing Times” on Wednesday, September 9, 2009, 7:30 p.m., at The Mandel Jewish Community Center (26001 South Woodland Road, Beachwood). The event is free and open to the public.

*Benny Begin, Israeli Cabinet Minister, Likud Knesset Member and son of former Likud Prime Minister Menachem Begin, is an Israeli geologist and politician. Begin was first elected in 1988 as a Likud Knesset member and served as Science Minister under Prime Minister Netanyahu until he resigned from his position in 1997 to protest against the Hebron Agreement. In 1999, he left the Knesset and politics altogether. He resumed his career in science and education and was appointed Director of the Geological Survey of Israel. On November 2, 2008, Begin announced his return to politics, and to the Likud party, and won a seat in the Knesset in the 2009 election.
