Inspiring Empathy Through the Maltz Museum
Thanks to our community’s support of the annual Campaign for Jewish Needs, the Maltz Museum inspires people of all ages to build empathy, celebrate diversity, and stand up against hate.
At Aurora High School, that impact began with a single Honorable Mention in the Stop the Hate contest. A $500 grant helped a teacher create a library nook filled with books on diversity and kindness, sparking conversations that grew into action. Students launched the Stop the Hate Club to share stories, plan service projects, and strengthen their school community. By 2025, the club had become an official student organization, demonstrating how one idea can grow into a lasting movement.
The Museum’s exhibits create similar moments of connection and understanding. After visiting An American Story: The Jewish Experience in Northeast Ohio and El Sueño / The American Dream, Miriam, whose family immigrated from Lithuania, saw reflections of her own story in the journeys of others. While her family's path to America was different from that of migrants crossing the southern border today, she recognized the shared challenges, hopes, and dreams that unite many immigrant experiences. She left with a renewed appreciation for the importance of welcoming and supporting newcomers, helping ensure everyone has the opportunity to thrive.
Through programs and experiences like these, the Maltz Museum shows how understanding another person’s story can inspire meaningful change in our communities.
TOGETHER, we help save and change tens of thousands of lives in Cleveland, Israel, and around the world. Thank you!
