Upcoming Events for You

Tags: Federation, Arts, Women, Young Families, Young Adults, Volunteer

Summer is in full swing, and there are plenty of ways to connect with Jewish Cleveland this month. Whether you're looking to volunteer, spend time with family, explore Israeli art and culture, or meet new people, July offers meaningful opportunities for all ages and interests. We hope you'll join us at one (or more!) of these upcoming events.

July 9
"Peter is Back" by Amir Yatziv

Whatever the speaking creature in Franz Kafka’s 1917 “A Report to an Academy” may be – he is back! And he is going to actually meet you and tell you something about reality today.

“Peter is Back” is a live meeting between the artist Amir Yatziv and a CGI avatar, brought to life using advanced artificial intelligence (AI) technology. Peter can follow a script while improvising and responding to the conversation as it unfolds. How apish someone can be – you’ll have to see for yourself. The artist and his intangible character talk about life, the journey into humanness, and post-humanness.

But you see, there is no magic here, the mechanism is exposed, and you are invited to take part in the cross-species conversation. Try to come as open and tolerant as possible, things could get wild, you know.

Cleveland International Piano Competition and Institute for Young Artists

The CIPC and Institute for Young Artists is known as one of the top international piano competitions for emerging pianists ages 10-18. With over $30,000 in prizes, the CIPC and Institute for Young Artists offers unparalleled musical experiences for today’s world.

Enjoy a semi-final solo round featuring contestants from the Rising Star (ages 10-12), Junior (ages 13-15), and Senior (ages 16-18) Divisions, followed by an intimate conversation with competition juror and Israeli pianist, Ilana Vered.

Vered is a member of the 2026 CIPC jury. Widely recognized as one of the leading pianists of her generation, Vered began playing the piano at the age of three. At age 13 she won an Israeli government grant to continue her studies at the Paris Conservatoire. She then attended the Juilliard School, and in 1961 she won the Young Concert Artists International Auditions. Vered has performed with orchestras worldwide, is a frequent performer at music festivals, and is a chamber musician of distinction. In 2023 Ilana Vered was accepted to join the piano section of the Jerusalem Academy of Music.
