Description

Join us for Zikaron BaSalon, a meaningful tradition commemorating Yom Hashoah V’Hagvurah (Holocaust Remembrance Day). Translated literally into “remembrance in the living room” from Hebrew, Zikaron BaSalon is an annual event, which takes place on Israeli Holocaust Memorial Day. The idea was born from the understanding that the connection between us – third generation descendants of the Holocaust survivors – and the memories of the Holocaust, has significantly deteriorated. In 2016, over 500,000 people chose to commemorate Yom Hashoah by attending a Zikaron BaSalon in their local community. The event started seven years ago in Israel but today has turned into a worldwide tradition with over 40 participating locations across the globe.

With our shlicha (Israeli emissary) Ayelet Isaac, Jewish Clevelanders between the ages of 21 and 45 are invited to gather in living rooms across the city to meet Holocaust survivors, listen to their stories, and engage in intimate and moving conversations about the importance of keeping the memory of the Holocaust alive. Zikaron BaSalon will be hosted in private homes on the East side, Downtown and in Ohio City. This year’s program features two new Zikaron BaSalon experiences including a location in partnership with Federation’s Community Relations Committee and a location in partnership with Cleveland Hillel. Please select your first and second location preferences on the registration page. Address will be provided upon registration.

Light refreshments will be served
(kosher dietary laws observed)
