Celebrate the Coming of the New Year

We are in the Hebrew month of Elul, the month before Rosh Hashanah, the month that we hear the sound of the shofar at daily morning prayers. The shofar blast is designed to “startle” us – to prepare us for the deep introspection that marks the new year.
Just as the new year’s prayers cause us to think about how life will be for our friends and loved ones, so too this month the start of our annual Campaign for Jewish Needs will determine how life will be for the hundreds of thousands of Jews in Cleveland and around the world who benefit from our fundraising.
So, as we prepare to celebrate the coming of the new year let us also celebrate the opportunity to do something good for our people as well. Let the new year inspire us to make this year better than ever for our agencies, schools, and all those we touch.
