JFC Security, LLC, the security provider of the Jewish Federation of Cleveland, inspired other communities and law enforcement while presenting its model of creating public and private partners at the National Homeland Security Conference.

On May 22, JFC Security, LLC – the security provider of the Jewish Federation of Cleveland – held a community-wide emergency preparedness exercise with various local police and fire departments, as well as Federation’s leadership team. Over the course of the day, the network of first responders and law enforcement managed two different crises simultaneously – one involving an explosive device; the other involving a hostage situation – staged at Heights Jewish Center Synagogue in University Heights and Suburban Temple-Kol Ami in Beachwood.

Helping to keep Jewish Cleveland safe - while preserving its open and welcoming spirit - has long been a top priority for the Jewish Federation of Cleveland and its security provider JFC Security, LLC. To that end, JFC Security has increased its team of highly trained security officers over the years to support local law enforcement agencies, as well as deployed leading-edge security technology throughout the community.

One day after the Jan. 15 hostage crisis at Congregation Beth Israel in Colleyville, Texas, Jim Hartnett, director of community-wide security for the Jewish Federation of Cleveland, took a telephone call from Jeff Fortunato, assistant special agent in charge of Cleveland FBI.

The Israeli Ministry of Diaspora Affairs offered Community Awareness and Resilience Education security training to the Cleveland Jewish community from March 6 to March 10.

Days before Stephen H. Hoffman was due in Jerusalem for the 2003 General Assembly of United Jewish Communities, truck bombs detonated in front of two synagogues in Istanbul, Turkey.

Local police departments in the eastern suburbs of Cleveland credited the Jewish Federation of Cleveland for alerting them to a live hostage crisis in Colleyville, Texas, Jan. 15 just before noon and stepped up their response immediately.

When a shooting had been reported at the Embassy Suites hotel in Beachwood on April 20, many buildings within the city immediately went into lockdown. For parents with children in schools nearby a shooting, this can be an especially stressful time.

After attending a three-day security summit, the security director of JFC Security, LLC, the Jewish Federation of Cleveland’s security provider, said Cleveland has a balanced and smart security plan which he hopes resonates in the community.
