The Jewish Federation of Cleveland continued 90+ year tradition by recognizing the recipient of the distinguished Charles Eisenman Award for exceptional civic contributions: Harley I. Gross. The Federation honored Harley at the 111th Annual Meeting on April 14 at B’nai Jeshurun Congregation.

Mabel spent most of her life donating her time to charity. She volunteered with a variety of organizations, in Cleveland and beyond. At 75, she had slowed down a bit but her interest in doing good never changed.

Passover is synonymous with cleaning, shopping, and cooking. With all of the physical preparations, however, it’s easy to arrive spent and exhausted to the Passover Seder, and lose track of what Passover is really about - the retelling of the miraculous emancipation of our ancestors from Egypt, and the celebration of our transformation from slaves to a self-determining nation of free men and women.
