Inside a picturesque storefront in Cleveland’s St. Clair neighborhood is the Slovenian Museum and Archives. Small in size, this museum – which is the only one of its kind in the United States – boasts many artifacts from the central European country.

At this year’s General Assembly, a premiere leadership experience for engaged Federation volunteers and professionals, Federations from across North America shared their programs and innovations that are making their community stronger.

CLEVELAND, Ohio – "Violins of Hope" is about to get even more interesting. In addition to the ongoing exhibition and concerts that have taken place so far, the project is about to include an appearance by the Israel Philharmonic Orchestra, with its longtime director, Zubin Mehta.

The mood among Jews in Jerusalem swings from “deeply sad” to “really angry” as a wave of terrorist attacks that show no signs of stopping continues in Israel.

One of my first memorable Federation experiences was when I went on a young adult mission to Israel 11 years ago. I’d never been to Israel. I was hesitant to leave my children but something in me said “just go, it will be worth it.” And, it was! Israel was simply beautiful. It moved me.

Here in Jerusalem, the conditions are all too familiar with people expressing gratitude for my coming despite the current situation. I have been here many times during terrorist attacks. This time, however, feels a bit different because the terror is coming from seemingly random attackers, unorganized, but deadly just the same. People continue to go about their business but look around more carefully as they walk on the street, changing familiar routes.
