Last night, more than 400 community members came together at Fuchs Mizrachi School to celebrate 114 years of community and 70 years of Israel's independence at the Jewish Federation of Cleveland's Annual Meeting.

S. Lee Kohrman, a longtime Jewish community volunteer, leader and lawyer, will receive the Jewish Federation of Cleveland’s highest annual honor at the group’s 114th annual meeting April 26 at Fuchs Mizrachi School in Beachwood.

– Kim Meisel Pesses of Moreland Hills has been named the 2017 recipient of the Gries Family Award for Community Leadership. The award recognizes Pesses for her lasting impact on Cleveland’s Jewish and general communities. Pesses was presented the award at the Jewish Federation of Cleveland Board of Trustees meeting on November 29.

James A. Ratner, recipient of the 2015 Gries Family Award, has made it his mission to ensure the future and strength of Cleveland’s general and Jewish communities while also reminding the next generation the importance of getting involved.

Calling all Cleveland area middle and high school wordsmiths and artists: you are invited to enter the 2017 annual Yom Hashoah V’Hagvurah (Cleveland’s commemoration of the Holocaust and heroism) Contest. Essays and works of art are sought that portray this year’s theme, “Stand Up, Speak Out: Stopping Persecution Then and Now.”

Many in attendance at the Jewish Federation of Cleveland women’s philanthropy’s annual Women’s Spring Luncheon May 18 were misty-eyed as they watched a tribute video in honor of Mary Ellen Saltzman.
