For generations, it’s been said that “kids today have it so much easier” than the adults who came before them. If only that were still the case.

The Cleveland Federation has partnered with Beit She’an and the Valley of Springs (Emek HaMa’ayanot) for the past 30 years. After October 7, the Jewish Agency approached the Federation and asked whether it would take responsibility for supporting one of the Gaza border communities. It chose Kibbutz Kissufim.

At the Mandel JCC, a beneficiary agency of the Jewish Federation of Cleveland, the Inclusion Program of J-Day Camps pairs campers who have individualized needs with a one-on-one inclusion facilitator, so they can be fully included in camp life alongside their peers: swimming, performing on stage, making friends, and growing in confidence.

I have had the privilege and pleasure of working together with many families on their philanthropy over the years. One common thread I have found is that families want their giving to be meaningful and impactful. And they want to communicate the value and importance of giving to their children and grandchildren.

A career in the arts and entertainment industry means giving a performer or artist a platform to share their story, their identity, and their values. But for many Jewish and Israeli artists, that platform often comes with an unwelcomed audience – criticism and backlash.

Members of the Cleveland Jewish community gathered Oct. 7 to commemorate the third anniversary of Hamas’ surprise attacks on Israel, remembering those who lost their lives through prayers, songs and personal stories, while also sharing messages of hope and solidarity.

Through the Jewish Federation of Cleveland’s annual Campaign for Jewish Needs, we help ensure that older adults and their caregivers have access to the care, guidance, and connection they need to navigate life’s challenges.

For the third consecutive summer, teens from Kibbutz Kissufim spent time at Mandel JCC's Camp Wise, Cleveland’s “Home of Happiness,” creating friendships, making memories, and enjoying the chance to simply be kids.
