Justin Kadis has been awarded the 2020 Bennett and Donna Yanowitz Leadership Award by the Jewish Federation of Cleveland. The award recognizes and honors an outstanding young individual who has demonstrated commitment, involvement, and leadership within Cleveland’s Jewish community. He received the award at the Federation’s virtual Board of Trustees meeting on February 16.

I wanted to start off by saying that I am grateful to the Jewish Federation for hosting the YLD One-Click Trips. These three events allowed me and other Clevelanders to talk to and connect with people from around the world.

COVID-19 brought the world to a screeching halt in 2020, but on top of closed businesses, digitized schools and canceled trips, the virus also impacted college students’ education.

Two things Cleveland is known for is our long winters and our strong Jewish community. This year, the winter months seem to hang over our heads a little more than usual as we continue to live physically distanced during the COVID-19 pandemic. The coping mechanisms we used in the warmer months like walks, hikes, and other outdoor activities, are not as feasible for many of us.

Jewish Federation of Cleveland's Young Leadership Division and Cleveland shlicha, Li-or Gersht joined us for a virtual trip to our sister city Beit Shean, Israel.

The Jewish Federation of Cleveland’s Young Leadership Division (YLD) announced the appointment of Abbie Pappas as board chair, effective January 2021. Pappas served as YLD’s board vice chair last year and she succeeds Cameron Orlean in the board chair role. YLD connects Jewish young adults, ages 22 – 45, to each other and the community through social, volunteer, leadership, and philanthropic activities.
