We pray for the safety of all Members of Congress, their staff and the law enforcement who are protecting them. We thank Senators Sherrod Brown and Rob Portman, and Governor Mike DeWine for their strong statements and join them in urging an end to the violence. We also unequivocally condemn any elected official trying to advance a position by claiming that Adolf Hitler was “right.” Violent unlawful protests and hate-fueled rhetoric have no place in our democratic society.

The Jewish Federation of Cleveland strongly condemns the recent decision by the Court of Justice of the European Union to uphold a Belgian ban on ritual and kosher slaughter, enabling anti-Jewish laws to be enacted throughout Europe.

Last January, Jewish Clevelanders came out in big numbers to participate in the "No Hate. No Fear. Solidarity March" in New York City to stand up against hatred and anti-Semitism.

Small groups and individuals approached the Kol Israel Foundation Memorial at Mount Zion Cemetery in Bedford Heights on Sept. 27 for the 19th annual Fall Memorial, taking turns paying respect to their ancestors who were victims of the Holocaust.
