About the Deputy Director, Training position:

JFC Security, LLC (JFC Security) is the security provider for the Jewish Federation of Cleveland.

Founded in 2013, JFC Security helps to oversee the safety and security of the Jewish community and its institutions throughout the Cleveland area by nurturing a culture of security and by maintaining strong law enforcement partnership. Helping to keep Jewish Cleveland safe – while preserving its open and welcoming spirit – is our top priority.

To that end, we employ a team of highly trained, licensed security officers to help watch over our Jewish community. We provide safety coverage to synagogues, Jewish schools, and many social service organizations in the greater Cleveland Jewish community to protect Jewish way of life.

The Deputy Director, Training will be responsible for the development and scheduling of all community training programs for Jewish Schools, synagogues, and agencies and will also provide consultation and training to the Synagogues participating in the volunteer security initiative, which includes occasional weeknight and weekend in-service training. The Deputy Director, Training will assist in the development and on-going training of JFC Security Officers and Federation Staff. At the request of the Director of Community-Wide Security, the Deputy Director, Training will assist in conducting vulnerability assessments for Jewish schools, synagogues, and agencies, as needed. The Deputy Director, Training is responsible for implementing program goals and objectives, developing current and pertinent training methods, while performing a variety of administrative, professional, and technical tasks assigned to that area of responsibility.

Under the direction and general supervision of the Director of Community-Wide Security, the Deputy Director, Training is responsible for overseeing and developing training process for the Community and the JFC Security Officers, Staff and Personnel.

While administering training programming, a variety of techniques will be implemented for managing the development, drafting and updating of all security/safety lesson plans for community training needs. The Deputy Director, Training will continually address training issues, identify training resources, best practices and organize training events.

Essential Functions:

  1. Responsible for developing and implementing training programs for the Synagogue Volunteer pilot program, JFC Security Officers, and Federation Staff.
  2. Develops training curriculum for community members that will strengthen security at Jewish schools, synagogues, and agencies.
  3. Maintains detailed calendar and scheduling of all training events, for Jewish Community, JFC Security Officers, and Federation Staff.
  4. Keeps the Director of Community-Wide Security updated on all community training events and activities and provides feedback regarding number of participants and any issues identified.
  5. Establishes goals for the training program and utilizes assessment tools to measure training effectiveness.
  6. Conducts research and recommends new, innovative training programs, equipment, and techniques to keep training program relevant.
  7. Prepares and maintains accurate and complete records of the training performed, prepares clear and concise reports to monitor the success of training.

Community Relations:

  1. Maintains and nurtures professional relationships with the leadership of Jewish schools, synagogues and agencies to establish rapport and confidence in community training program.
  2. Collaborates with Jewish schools, synagogues and agencies to understand their training needs and in doing so develop curriculum to improve their safety.
  3. Maintains strong liaison with federal, state and local law enforcement police instructors to partner with on joint community and personnel security training.

Qualifications:

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities and Personal Characteristics:
  1. Preferred bachelor’s degree from an accredited college with focus in management, public administration, training methodology adult instruction and learning principles and theories.
  2. Demonstrated teaching or instructor experience, able to develop lesson plans, scenarios, tabletop exercises and implement for training all JFC personnel and community members.
  3. Minimum of ten (10) years’ experience in field of law enforcement or related field.
  4. Dynamic, results oriented individual with the highest degree of personal integrity.
  5. Practical knowledge of technical equipment, policies, procedures, and strategies to promote effective security operations for the protection of people, data, property, and institutions.
  6. Professional demeanor and appearance, Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  7. Valid driver’s license and safe driving record with ability to travel at different sites locations.
  8. Required to work on weekends and attend evening and community events.
  9. Successful completion of JFC Security testing requirements, physical and background check.
  10. Comply with all training and safety requirements established by the Federation.
