Associate, International Experiences
About the Associate, International Experiences position:
The Associate, International Experiences is charged with all efforts to promote and recruit for a portfolio of international programs and opportunities, including Birthright Israel and other programs that deepen Jewish connections. In addition, this position will be responsible for building and maintaining direct relationships with Cleveland Jewish young adults, ages 18-30, and other stakeholders that support this demographic.
This position entails leading Birthright trips in Israel, and leading other international programs throughout the year, managing several events in Cleveland and on campuses around Ohio (and other states), working with college campus organizations (Hillel and Chabad), and running pre/post program opportunities. The Associate will help to deepen engagement of young adults in Jewish life, create greater investment and exploration of their Jewish identity and connection to their global Jewish community, and act as a concierge and liaison to a variety of programs, activities, and events throughout the year.
This position is full-time and reports to the Director, International Experiences.
Essential Job Functions:
Outreach & Engagement- Create and execute active strategies to increase the number of young adults (18-30) who participate in Jewish immersive international experiences. Recruit high quality participants primarily for Birthright trips, Onward Israel internships, and Masa Israel Teaching Fellows programs, as well as other international opportunities.
- Create and/or lead events, programs, workshops, orientations, information sessions, and other opportunities for participants and their parents. Organize recruitment/reunion/connection events at campuses across Ohio. Organize Jewish learning and/or networking events to engage participants pre/post program.
- Proactively create and manage social media assets and content. Coordinate all outreach, promotion, marketing, and advertising, working with JFC marketing department.
- Develop individual and ongoing relationships with students through in-person meetings and interactions to further their connection to Jewish Cleveland, Israel, and their Jewish identity, and engage them as alumni recruiters/ambassadors.
- Serve as a concierge to Clevelanders to assist them in understanding and maximizing the International Experience opportunities.
- Build relationships with local Ohio resources and “community gatekeepers” (schools, synagogues, Rabbis, Jewish educators, Hillel and Chabad professionals, Israeli emissaries, and Israel Fellows).
- Write reports/updates on International Experience programs for marketing and funding purposes.
- 20% of the position requires international and domestic travel, including but not limited to leading trip(s) in Israel and elsewhere, traveling to campuses in Cleveland and across Ohio (and other states), and attending networking and program partnership meetings.
- Work with Federation staff members who engage young adults in the organization’s work, including the Community Israel Emissary and the JFC Young Leadership team.
- 10% of the position is allocated to an annual campaign assignment; this may include, but is not limited to, providing staff support to a group of campaign volunteers, and participating in regular campaign meetings and events, as determined by the Campaign Director.
- This position supports the Department of International Operations, including assistance with visiting international delegations, staffing community events, and contributing to the overall efforts of the Federation.
- All other relevant responsibilities and duties as directed.

- Strong knowledge, understanding, and experience with Israel and the Jewish community, culture, and tradition.
- An alum of Birthright Israel or another organized Israel program and/or experience and comfort with Israel travel. (Hebrew language skills are a plus but not required.)
- Essential computer skills including Word, Excel, Power Point, and Salesforce.
- Bachelor’s Degree required.
- 2-4+ years of experience preferred.
