Federation YLD to Host Actor, Writer, Producer Nov. 14

Jonah Platt will discuss his Jewish identity at the Jewish Federation of Cleveland’s Young Leadership Division Big Event, the signature fundraising event for the division, from 7 to 10 p.m. Nov. 14 at Congregation Mishkan Or at 26000 Shaker Blvd. in Beachwood.
The event will be an opportunity for young Jewish people to develop a connection with the community and a fundraising opportunity for the Federation, event co-chair Michael Ward told the Cleveland Jewish News.

“It’s basically a way for young Jewish people in their 20s, 30s and 40s to really get connected with the community and other Clevelanders and to raise funds for the 2025 campaign, give back and be part of something bigger than themselves,” Ward, a Beachwood resident, said.
Platt, an actor, writer, producer and voice for Jewish identity, will participate in a moderated conversation about the modern Jewish experience, and how he balances his role as a public figure and advocating for Israel, and more, Ward said. Platt has appeared in Broadway’s “Wicked,” Netflix’s “Uncoupled” and Universal Pictures’ “The List,” among others, according to his IMDb biography.
“The reason it’s important to have people hear from him is it allows young people to know they’re not alone in fighting antisemitism and combating anti-Israel rhetoric,” Ward said.
At 6, there will be a special Ben-Gurion Society Dinner, he said. The Ben-Gruion Society is a national donor recognition society for young adults ages 22 to 40. Members of the society only need to purchase one ticket for admission to the dinner and the following event.
