"The Golden Age" Exhibition Open House and Curator Talk

Join us for an exhibition open house featuring the Roe Green Gallery's latest exhibition, “The Golden Age” by Shlomo Katz and curated by Matthew Garson.

Israeli artist Shlomo Katz’s career spanned from the 1970s until his untimely death in 1992. Inspired by medieval icons and oriental miniatures, Katz developed an original technique of painting by applying oil on top of gold leaf. The result was a combination of deep vibrant colors combined with a metallic surface that glowed, forming a totally new modern image filled with light. His artistic style and preoccupation with beauty and aesthetics is deeply rooted in the European culture in which he was born, while distancing him from what other contemporary artists created in Israel at that time.

Community Security Training: Stop the Bleed

The American College of Surgeons’ “Stop the Bleed” program has prepared nearly 4 million people worldwide on how to stop bleeding in a severely injured person - you can too!

With 3 quick actions, you can be trained to save a life! The number 1 cause of preventable death after injury is bleeding. That’s why we want to train you how to stop the bleed. “Stop the Bleed” is a grassroots national awareness campaign and call-to-action. “Stop the Bleed” encourages bystanders to become trained, equipped, and empowered to help in a bleeding emergency before professional help arrives.

Participants will learn these three techniques to stop bleeding: direct pressure, packing wounds, and using tourniquets.

This training program is open to ages 13+. *Space is limited to 20 attendees per class.
