Event Details
Description
“The Goldsmith,” written and performed by Sharone Sayegh, is a play with music that traces four generations of an Iraqi-Jewish family across Iraq, Israel, and the United States. Drawing on lived history and personal memory, the play follows a Mizrachi Jewish woman navigating love with heart and humor. As past and present collide, inherited gold jewelry becomes a living archive of memory—melted, reshaped, and passed down through generations.
Performed in Hebrew, Arabic, and English, “The Goldsmith” balances humor, music, and heartbreak to offer an intimate and funny exploration of Jewish continuity, cultural inheritance, and the courage it takes to honor where you come from while choosing who you become.
Post-performance talk-back and meet the artist, Sharone Sayegh.
