Ally's Jewish Overnight Camp Experience

Hi, my name is Ally and I have been going to Camp Wise for 5 years. The first time I came to camp I went for 2 weeks and the only thing I remember thinking the entire time was “wow, I wish I could go for a whole month,” but soon, that month turned into my whole summer. I have made lifelong friends with my cabin mates, fellow villagers, counselors, and really the entire camp.

To my eye it read a lot like what I experienced in Israel recently and what I hear from my friends there. And now we are all contemplating the “real story” behind the attack in San Bernardino or whether Paris can happen here.

Youth Futures Mentor Pays it Forward

We recently met a young woman named Yafit, an Ethiopian Jew whose family made Aliyah more than 30 years ago. She is just one of nearly 100,000 Ethiopian Jews who completed the journey – an effort that Cleveland’s own Federation President Steve Hoffman helped initiate. Now, Yafit is paying it forward as a Youth Futures Mentor, a Federation-supported program that provides community-based mentoring for youth in Israel. Read Yafit’s inspiring story here:
