Barry Feldman will be honored at this year’s Jewish National Fund Northern Ohio Tree of Life Award Dinner Aug. 27.

The event, which will take place from 6 to 9 p.m. at Executive Caterers at Landerhaven in Mayfield Heights, is a chance to honor someone who is worthy of recognition within the community, according to Mindy Feigenbaum, JNF Northern Ohio regional director.

“It’s a chance to let the community know what Jewish National Fund is doing and what we’re doing for Israel, because without JNF there would be no Israel,” Feigenbaum said.

A committee composed of board of trustees members and past honorees selected Feldman to receive this year’s award. The award is the “highest honor” the organization gives out, Feigenbaum said.

Feldman, who is president of Kottler Metal Products in Willoughby and a member of B’nai Jeshurun Congregation in Pepper Pike, is a passionate philanthropist. He serves on several boards. including the Jewish Federation of Cleveland, B’nai Jeshurun, Menorah Park Foundation, the National Board of American Friends of Magen David Adom, and Jewish National Fund. He also supports numerous charities, such as Rainbow Babies and Children’s Circle of Friends, the Ronald McDonald House, FIDF Student Impact Program and Friendship Circle of Cleveland.

“I don’t think you’ll find another human being who better exemplifies the word ‘mensch,’” Feigenbaum said of Feldman. “He is so involved in so many different outlets around the world — not just the Jewish community but nationwide. I’ve never met anybody who cares more about people and Israel than Barry.”

Proceeds from the event will support JNF’s work in Israel.
