I recently traveled down to Fort Lauderdale for an inspiring week at JFNA's National Young Leadership Cabinet Retreat. For some background, NYL Cabinet is a philanthropic program designed for men and women, ages 30 to 45, from across the U.S. and Canada who are deeply committed to building a strong, vibrant future for the Jewish people. There are roughly 350 members in Cabinet.

A Garden for the Future

Where once lay the battered husk of an abandoned army base in the heart of Beit Shean, Israel, now grows a beautiful community garden for all to enjoy. This physical transformation is a perfect representation of the Jewish Federation’s lasting impact on its sister community in Israel. It had become an eye-sore for the beautiful neighborhood across the street, ignored by the residents of the community.
